Why Do You Do Your Work? You May Be in Love!

Reading Time: 4 minutes

Hi my reader, Thank you for stopping by to read my blog post. It’s full of questions and curiosity.  No need to think differently whether you are “at work” or “off the clock”.

What day and time is it? (No more calling my favorite phone number 515-244-5611 as it’s disconnected following years of service. I loved hearing that voice!) I want you to be in the best frame of mind to answer more questions.

Do you love your job?

Was that an easy answer?

Let me ask again, do you love what you do to make money?

Not sure? or So-So or Absolutely sure!

What motivates you toward your work?

Are you satisfied with your career?

Is there a match or a mismatch in some areas of the job?

Want to learn from your motivations and refocus your goals?

Would you like (or love!?) to take a critically serious view of your work?

love my job mutuallyI love my job, my job loves me!

I can help you through this process or you can connect with a career counselor of your choosing! Years ago, I met with Lin Phillips, a career counselor who is very skilled and talented at helping people “see the light” regarding what makes us tick at work and in life. She explained that if you love your work, your life feels so natural. You’re able to go with the flow!

Are you sure or not sure if you’re really in love yet?

Using the Why Do You Do Your Work? self-assessment scale below or download a copy, indicate to what extent each of the following items corresponds to the reasons why you are presently involved in your work. Then ask yourself why???!!! Take all sorts of notes about yourself to yourself!

When complete, please feel free to do whatever you want with the results or send me the scale and any of your notes so we can talk! You’ll learn A LOT about yourself and why you do your work. I hope that’s motivational!

Get in tune with your test results! Based on this scale, and the conversations that follow, you’ll be happy knowing your personal motivators, and what to do with them on the job!

Discussing your career with an interested party like me will highlight and improve job performance.

I do not know the origins or where I found this scale After uncovering an old paper copy of it while cleaning my office, I’d appreciate knowing its source. Sources of information or a brief overview of any particular topic always draws my attention quickly!

My goal is to get you excited about working with me on a case. I also want you to read my blog posts!

To You My Love, As a parting gift, I’m offering this article titled Why Loving Your Work Matters.
